HOW DO I DEAL WITH 2 OR MORE FINALS IN ONE DAY?

WRITTEN BY AMY WANG (PEACE ADVISOR)

So the stars have aligned unfavorably, and you have more than one final to deal with on a single day. This is understandably a very stressful situation, especially if these finals are for challenging classes. However, this is actually a pretty common situation for many students. In fact, more often than not, I’ve had back to back finals on the same day. When I first found myself in this situation several semesters ago, I worried about my capability to simultaneously study for two classes at once. However, you’d be surprised at how much information your brain can store! The first step to conquering your finals is to not doubt yourself. You’re much better off spending your time sleeping or even watching Netflix than wasting that time worrying, which is completely counterproductive to your goal. Next, set up a solid study schedule for RRR week. Personally, I found it most productive to focus on only one class each day and alternate between subjects every one to two days. That way, I’d be able to concentrate on one class without getting distracted by the other, but still be able to keep up with both classes. However, everyone studies differently, so plan your study schedule according to what you’ve found to be the most efficient. Most importantly, get a good night’s rest the night before your big day. Staying up late to cram can sometimes be useful when you have only one exam the next day, but in this case, you need to be prepared to run a mental marathon. Sleep up, eat well, and make sure you have a healthy outlet to deal with your stress. And once you’re done acing those finals, don’t hesitate to treat yourself. You deserve it. Good luck!
