They are highly folded, however it is chloroplasts that use ATP to generate molecules like glucose. They do not help in the modification of glycoproteins and other macromolecules, as this is the function of the Golgi Apparatus. They do, however, generate a lot of ATP because they are home to the process of cellular respiration. This ATP is the cell’s energy source and allows for carrying out various functions.
