The Blood Pressure Project is a service organization focusing on health education in the South Berkeley community, a community shown to have higher rates of hypertension due to health disparities and a lack of access to services. We partner directly with Heart2Heart, the City of Berkeley’s Public Health Department, and the American Heart Association and provide free and regular blood pressure screenings in conjunction with health information and resources to the community members of South Berkeley. These blood pressure screenings are mainly to promote awareness of hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and the causes and prevention methods of these conditions. Our other service events include assisting communities with Covered CA enrollment, canvassing, and healthy cooking demonstrations all in an effort to help educate this community and combat high blood pressure.

BPP itself is a great community to meet people. We are a relatively small group of people – so it is easy to get to know everyone without the intimidation bigger clubs on campus may have.
