Hi everyone! Sylvia here.

In general, I don’t advise people to skip class. After all, you’re paying for professors to educate you. And it’s easy to get behind in a class, even if you just miss one lecture. That said, there are certain situations in which skipping a class may be more beneficial to you than attending it.

For example, if you have a midterm on a Monday night and you think it would be more beneficial to study than to go to all your classes that day, skipping some or all of them might be your best option. Sometimes when you’re in a time crunch before a midterm, you need those extra few hours to cram.

There are some classes, however, that you just shouldn’t skip. Don’t skip a class whose attendance is mandatory, or a class that uses iclickers in lecture. And don’t skip a class if you’re not going to be able to get the notes from someone later. Use your best judgment.
