American Red Cross @ CAL is a service organization that is comprised of a passionate group of college students from UC Berkeley who are dedicated to the mission and spirit of the Red Cross. ARC @ CAL provides free disaster preparedness trainings, CPR/First Aid/AED classes, operates the largest blood donation centers in NorCal, respond to local and national disasters, raise awareness, take part in campus led events, and much more! We not only offer learning services but also teaching services, meaning that once you have been trained with us you will get the opportunity to teach others and be prepared to react in the case of an emergency.
We have 5 different lines of service: Blood Services, Youth Services, Awareness and Fundraising, Health and Safety, and Disaster Services that allow you to learn various skills as well as bond with the other committee members. Personally, when I saw the ARC @ CAL sign around campus my freshman year I felt a sense of familiarity. At least there was something here that I recognized in the midst of uncommonness and newness. All of the members were welcoming and eager to share their experiences and skill sets. I not only felt a sense of belonging in such a vast campus, but also got the opportunity to bond with other students who had similar feelings and interests as me. I would definitely recommend that ALL undergraduate students join ARC @ CAL so that they can meet their besties as well as become fellow talented ARC volunteers. |
