Indus is UC Berkeley’s premier, non-profit, South Asian student organization with over 200 UC Berkeley members and a strong alumni network. They seek to spread awareness of South Asian culture and construct a national network of friendly competition and camaraderie through major intercollegiate competitions. By facilitating cultural events, they aim to encourage awareness and education about the South Asian community throughout the larger UC Berkeley campus.
My personal experience with Indus has been amazing; through my experiences at the several events that are held each year, I’ve been able to meet a great group of people who not only became my close friends, but my extended family at Cal. Moreover, I’ve had the opportunity to meet like-minded individuals from universities across the nation who come to compete at Anahat (fusion a capella) and Bollywood Berkeley (fusion dance), massive events that together attract over 2,000 audience members. Through Indus, not only have I been able to make Cal my second home, but have also found a platform to grow while having fun. |
