Cal Student Society for Stem Cell Research is the Berkeley chapter of the SSSCR where students get familiarized to the ever growing field of stem cells and regenerative medicine while gaining valuable experience. The club is divided into three different committees: Academia, Conference and Outreach. The Academia committee meets biweekly and discusses papers from journals and typically one member gives a presentation about the paper The Conference committee is responsible for organizing the annual SSSCR conference, that happens in the month October, where speakers range from top notch scientists discussing their research and patient advocates sharing their personal stories. The Outreach committee organizes trips to high schools and science fares to interact with younger students and educate them about stem cells. SSSCR is a medium sized club and is actively seeking for new members to participate in our events and join our club. I personally gained so much experience from joining SSSCR in my freshman year and met many like minded peers. I recommend students majoring in IB/ MCB/ BioE to join SSSCR.
