The Student Learning Center has so many resources for students. It is the main hub where students go for all things related to academics. There is tutoring and study groups for Writing, Math, Stats, Econ, Science, and Social Science. It also has programs for study strategies, international students, and transfer students. Classes offered by the SLC such as Chem P, Stat P, Math 32, etc. are very helpful in preparing 1st year students to succeed in their future classes at Cal.
I have the SLC to thank for all my success here at Cal. I honestly don’t know where I would be without it. As a student, going to study group, asking tutors questions, working on problems, and getting tips for classes helped me so much, especially during my first two years. Studying for classes here was so different from high school and I was having trouble adjusting, but coming to the SLC was just what I needed. I learned how to effectively study not just for college but for each specific class. The SLC helped me get from thinking I’d fail Chem 1A to getting a solid A in Chem 3B! I was also able to meet many friends through SLC because everyone comes here and studies together all the time. The tutors and staff here are all wonderful and genuinely care about giving students the best. The atmosphere is unlike any other. It’s like home, but everyone is also very motivated to learn. I’ve been a tutor here for several years now and can definitely say SLC is my family and I can’t imagine college without it. I went from a confused freshman, to studying effectively, and even helping other students do well in the classes I enjoyed. I would encourage any student to head to SLC, it can only help you! |
