The Berkeley Project (BP) is the largest student-run volunteer organization on campus. Every year, we send over 2,000 student volunteers to 80+ sites in the Berkeley area to work side-by-side with residents to enhance the city of Berkeley and strength the school-community bond.

For me, volunteering provides an opportunity to immerse in the surrounding community and learn with and from the people I interact with. A common misconception is that community service is all about ‘giving back’ in a ‘selfless’ manner, but I believe it is a reciprocated action. I have not only seen the direct impact of my service on others, but have witnessed and experienced how volunteering has turned me into a better friend, a better student, and an overall more compassionate person.

We’re celebrating our 10th anniversary this year! Join our movement and register as a volunteer or site leader at www.berkeleyproject.org.
