Alternative Breaks is a service-learning program on campus that explores various social justice issues ranging from Environmental Justice to Immigration Rights to issues still surrounding New Orleans 10 years after Katrina. Participants spend the spring semester attending a Decal to learn about the roots of the issue and how all the social justice issues are interconnected. They then spend their spring break eating with, working with, and learning from community members that face these injustices on a daily basis. If you’re interested in understanding how powerful community wisdom is and experiencing something you would never get from a two-hour lecture, check out our website and fill out an application
