Spoon University is a student-run online food blog that publishes articles about restaurants, recipes, and interesting tidbits about food to the college campus audience. There are two teams within Spoon that make this all possible: Business and Editorial. By operating on a weekly cycle system, this student organization is able to push three to five articles each week, complete with photographs and social media marketing. Additionally, Spoon University has  well-established headquarters that coordinates with all of its campus branches in order to promote article read-counts, standardize article writing techniques, and unify the nationwide organization with Spoon gear and competitions.

I have enjoyed being a part of Spoon at Cal because, as a relatively new student organization, the direction of the club is still fresh as we are continually establishing ourselves as the forefront food blog on campus. Having headquarters to refer to also helped organize the teams to efficiently produce quality articles and pictures every week; I feel like I am a part of a family in not only my photography team but also my editorial team. I would highly recommend joining Spoon because of the welcoming atmosphere. Also, being a part of a food publication is a great excuse to go out and try all the amazing ‘foodie’ spots in the Bay Area! I have come to love Berkeley/SF that much more because of the countless delicious encounters with food.
